I'd already voted, but had tossed an "I recognize that username but have no idea of username's qualifications" in my third place slot. I have corrected this oversight.

Not sure how much enjoyment there will be this weekend with the art show/sale thing for [info]catbear, but there are other weekends. I recommend smooching your wife and being all lovey.

*sigh* I suppose i'll have to get on with the smooches and loveyness, then.

I saw [info]catbear referenced on the coffeemaker I just bought from Amazon. Well, on the box. I had just been telling someone it's a small world.

And I feel pretty good about not recognizing any of the names on the board. So I guess I should see who has the most myspace angles in their profiles.

That first point extends to other fine institutions of fictional vigor, right?

If I'm feeling conspiratorial, I admire SUP's plot to put someone risible on the board, diminishing its credibility no end. "You can't expect us to take those advisors seriously; look at him." But really it's just the usual failure to think through social consequences.

I suppose i do not react with as much anti-gusto to someone's listing of, say, Unseen University, but yes, it's only fair.

This exercise can definitely be an object example of why democracy sucks.

On following your advice, I've voted for nobody. Keerist, what a bunch of pervos and loons.

They'll make an absolute perfect representation of LJ between them.

(I'm kinda surprised there aren't any Gor-ites running, though.)

What's wrong with people who have more than 500 friends?

(not that I'm running. But that's not the point!)

Holy shit John...you have five hundred people you read? How the hell do you keep up?

I've friended 503 accounts, and 79 syndicated feeds. I've got 538 people who've friended me. No matter which way you take the "more than 500 Friends" comment, I qualify.

And I keep up by virtue of some of them being relatively inactive, and many of them being skimmable - picture posts, news posts, or simply updates of a kind I really don't care about from that person[1]. I'll generally get about 300 posts on a weekday, and that takes me maybe an hour to skim them all, open the ones that look interesting, and read them. I generally do this in my spare time over the course of the day.

And if I have more time, I read in more detail. When I have less time, I only pursue the really interesting ones in depth.

[1]: Personal updates from strangers who post nice pictures, MMORPG updates from people I read for humour posts, etc.

Ugh, for that we have to descend into the awful "what exactly does 'friend' mean on LJ" discussion, and, well, i'm afraid we've run out of time, but tune in next week, when i'll be away from my computer.

Heh. I just figure, I have more than 500 people who've subscribed to read me (and, given that any link I post gets a minimum of 800 hits referred from my post, I suspect I've got more readers who haven't subscribed), and I've got more than 500 accounts that I've subscribed to read in turn. But I don't see why this is inherently disqualifying.

More often than not, i get the impression that accounts with that many "friends" are just collectors and not actually involved in socializing. This is not a bad thing per se, but for someone running to represent the userbase, it makes me less inclined to support them.

Don't vote for anyone who is obsessed with nude women.

So you can only vote for heterosexual women or gay men?

We're not all obsessive-compulsive, you know.

What are you? Some kind of non obsessive-compulsive gay male?

solitaire ( and broke your first rule)
jette
and
qfemale

Can i make fun of you because you only voted for women?

Sure, go right ahead. I will then be forced to summon the Valkyries of Doom.

I broke the code of the brotherhood by not voting for the Jew, because of his skanky woman posts. But it wasn't easy. I could feel every cell in my body rebelling against my rebellion.
